So its not just a case of varying width but this motor could also be rubber mounted? I'll get the numbers up ASAP.

Though as I said, the head, casing and barrels could all be form different motors lol. But I'm sure the number stamped on the casing refers to the casing at least.

Hi Ratch
I can see the spacer problem now.
You could try this out -

Fit the triangle bracket on the right tube inside the tube - not outside. That should remove the big gap you are currently seeing and it might line up better???? more like the right hand one.
That may sort your spacer problem out.

More worrying is can you get a bolt through or are the holes on engine and frame not lining up? Difficult to tell from the photo angle.

Looking at the diagram again the frame or engine are a '96 I'm pretty sure of that.

Will update with frame and engine numbers and hopefully you guy scan tell me what I'm missing.

Placing the bracket inside won;t complete the distance I'm afraid. Besides, the outer side is flared to support the bracket fully - the inner ones are not and I'd worry will cause issues.

Hopefully the proper bolt kit, bushings and some specs will do the trick. I hate deviating from factory specs tho, don;t like bodges at all...

If its done well - its far from a BODGE

Just get some nice s/s spacers knocked up and you're off & running lad, after all Kawasaki used that sort of arrangement on all the Z900/1000 models for rear engine fitting
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

So!

Frame is KZ650D then the rest of the frame numbers have vanished with the powder coating - which is going to screw with registration as I lost the V5!

Engine casing is KHI KZ750EE140231

So what am I messing with guys?

Take a look on here, scroll down to KZ and see if your engine is there.

Your engine cases came from a model that had rubber bushings in the actual mounting brackets on both sides of the engine (Not in the engine or frame) like the GT's etc.
Only the front mounts were like this the rears were solid like all other models.
i would make up a new triangular bracket with integral spacer welded on for the right side front and make some close tolerance spacers for the rest to aid maximum rigidity.

The frame appears to be an SR650 frame (as it was called in the UK) The exact model depends on the numbers you cannot see:

KZ650 D1 1978 KZ650D-000001- KZ650DE000001- Candy Persimmon Red
KZ650 D1* 1978 KZ650D000001- 003340 KZ650DE000101- 003467 Candy Persimmon Red
KZ650 D1A 1978 KZ650D-003440- - Candy Persimmon Red
KZ650 D1A* 1978 KZ650D003793 - 010292 KZ650DE003781 - 010308 Candy Persimmon Red
KZ650 D2* 1979 KZ650D010601 KZ650DE010601 Midnight Blue, Candy Persimmon Red
KZ650 D3 1980 KZ650D026001- KZ650DE026001 - Metallic Regal Blue, (F) Midnight Blue
KZ650 D4 1981 KZ650D028101 - KZ650DE033101-

I am pretty sure the engine is a ZR7 lump. I am checking to confirm or otherwise
Why do I persist in debating with idiots ? I really should know better :)

Many thanks for your help guys.

Zed105 - is there no way to just use what I have here? It looks like some beefy spacers would do the trick...?

Not ZR7 as this was the replacement for the Zephyr and like the Zephyr it had an oil cooler which was connected at the bottom left front of the crank cases.

Take a look at the front mounts of the ZR 750 Zephyr, ZR7 and GPX 750.

THE LOWER FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING IS NOT USED ON ZEPHRE ENGINES WHICH HAVE RUBBER MOUNTINGS
