z1100 fork balance pipe removal

Hi Guys, I got a pair of forks from what I think is a Z1100 which are pretty close to my CSR1000, which are pitted. Same length, diameter, leading axle etc. Only difference as far as I can see they have a balance pipe. How do I remove the balance pipe so I can take off the bottom yoke ? as I won't be using it cos the stem is too short. I cannot see any grub screws or anything, please help. Thanks $tevie

they are secured by a chrome clamp but this is only to stop it moving on the fork leg once the clamps are removed there is nothing holding them/ apart from the two o rings in the casting they will just pull off once sprayed with wd40

Yea that worked a treat. All good now. Thanks. There is no chrome clamp, will that make a difference ? will the balance pipe slide down once re-fitted ? It is a tight fit so i wouldn't have thought so. What do you reckon ?

Just WD the forks again before fitting and they will just slide down ok, you should fit some sort of clamp as they are there to stop the link moving backup the fork legs, you could just use a jubilee clips if you get stuck, but somebody on the site may have some you could use.

OK thanks. I cannot post links but there's a pair on ebay now. Number 251257119835 are these the clamps I need ?
