Mr pigford I hear through the grapevine you have a bit of a trick Z with all the right bits.It would be a slighty unfair contest when you compare the budget hack that I kept bolted together over the last 18years.I havent decided if Im going to ride my Z up or not yet,but Ill look out in the carpark for anybody riding one and ill wonder over and have a gander.

Just got back from Exeter, fantastic weather, got ride :!:
Met up with Jam and his 'Traveling Dyno - Road Show'.

Image

Noel turned up on his Harris Magnum MkI, also had a run on the Dyno

At leat I know the Dyna 2000 rev limiter works Ok, set it to 9000rpm & Jam had it bouncing off it a bit too long for my liking

It was good to meet up with Pigford and Noel, I had a very enjoyable weekend, Sunday was busier than Saturday, and hotter. I was sweating my bollox off in the dyno. I'm at the Newton abbot Show at the end of September, Sat 28th/Sun 29th if anyone's going.

So what power and speed did Pigfords and Noel's bikes put out ??

As I put before in the thread I saw Rimmer's mv Augusta in the back of the van last year at Paignton. The bike speedo showed 180 and the van said 166 !!

Has anyone got any pictures of the Exeter Show since I missed it being away.

Jam, yes it was pretty :hot
Me RS36's had 130 mains, so now running 135's. Also got the pump injectors coming in much sooner too and backed off the ignition a couple of degrees, it's a bit smoother now, cheers.

The dyno is accurate to within 1/100th of a mile per hour, most bike speedos over read by anything upto 12%, the GSXR suzukis are a good example as the speedo stops at 186mph but in actual fact the speed is more likely to be around the 175mph mark. The older bikes are difficult as the speedo drive is from the front wheel, which is static, also most modern bikes are driven from a sensor on the front sprocket and gearing changes done by changing the rear sprocket size will mess up the readings quite significantly. My own Z1075J is pumping out 103BHP at the wheel, although I've dialled the cams in to make it more usable down the bottom. If I dial them in to the figures that Yoshimura give for them I could squeeze another couple of horses out of it. Mine is running 1075 Wiseco pistons, a fully flowed head by Dom Trickett, Yoshimura ST1 camshafts, Mikuni RS38 flatslides without filters, Dyna'S ignition and V&H Drag headers with stubby Scorpion can on the collector, if I lengthen the pipe and tweak the cam timing, it'll punt out around the 107BHP mark. Top speed is 163mph, but I'm running 17 inch Gixxer slingshot running gear, and I can't remember what sized sprockets I'm on.
