Info for a Z1100R motor

#1 PostAuthor: jcote75 » Tue Aug 21, 2007 6:51 pm

Hi,

Maybe somebody can help me here.

I own a 1984 Z1100R1 and live in Canada.

Has you probably know, this model was not available in the USA.

I need a few parts such as a motor gasket and since this model was not available in the US, it is not list in there part books.

I heard that the Z1100R was a KZ1000R2 frame and a 1984 GPZ1100 Unitrack motor that was fit in it.

Is this true?

If so, i could use the motor parts from a 1984 GPZ to fit in mine.

Many thanks for your help and knowledge.

Joce

Hi Joce, the motor in the Z1100R1 is a carbed version of the uni-trak GPz1100 or ZX1100 as it known.
Either Z-POWER in the U.K. or Z1 ENTERPRISES in the U.S.A. should be able to supply you with the gaskets that you need. The Vesrah gasket sets are very good but as with most complete sets I've used or seen they don't include the 3 oil seals for the inner sprocket cover,so just remeber to order these as well.
If your motor is 1170 or bigger you're best to use a 1 piece Cometic Copper Head gasket, again Jeff at Z1 Enterprises is your man.
As for the frame, the U.S had different steering head angles on some models to U.K. and European models, and this may also apply to Canadian models too.Basically the 1000J,1000R and 1100R are the same frame just with s/head angle variations on some models for certain markets.
According to the Factory workshop manual for the Z1100R/GPz1100 uni-trak,the U.S. got the ZX but didn't get the 1100R1 but Canada did.
