Thanks guys,
I got some Vavoline 10w 40 today. So I will need to change this out for the semi synthetic, to see if this makes any difference to the clutch slip

But the bugger is, I have to remove my exhaust to change the bloody oil-

I Didn't really think of that one during the build did I

If that don't work - do what I did a few years back with my A2........ it used to slip at higher revs, so I just fitted a "Lock-up" clutch.... :P

Same plates for 8 yrs... no probs, 10k miles + loads of sprints too

(I only run proper wet clutch/bike oil though  )

Well after changing the semi synthetic castrol for Vavoline.......

No bloody difference,So I whipped of the clutch casing and found that the clutch pressure plate was easy to spin !!!
It looked like the hydraulic clutch was still partially engaged !!

I stripped out the fibre & steel plates, I also changed out the needle bearing mushroom for a standard one.

I then stuck in my spare set of used barnett clutch fibre & steel plates.
I checked that the hydraulic clutch was releasing - It was.

Stuck it all back together & hey presto - No clutch slip or Drag -
Confused I am :?: :?: :?: :|

Then to cap all this, my rear brake- which worked perfectly 4 days ago, now hardly stops the rear wheel. It seems like I am getting air into the system, I think it might be the hose connection to the cylinder. So I will need to look at this before I try to get it MOTd

Oh the trials & tribulations :| :| :|

The needle clutch pusher is thicker than the std one.
Sounds like the push rod needed shortening to compensate.
The slave cylinders piston probably bottomed out in its bore when bolted up and permanently released the pressure plate.
Swapping the mushroom did the trick.

Yeah zed1015,
I had shortened the clutch pushrod by 4mm when I fitted the hydraulic clutch, but this could not have been enough.

I measured the bearing mushroom & it is about 3mm thicker.

my stainless steal exhaust for my z1000 made by dave exhaust craft was very loud when i first fitted it, not any more now there is a coating of carbon inside the exhaust so i would leave your exhaust as it is no need to change anything
