I am running 34mm mikuni cv carbs on my gpz1100 with oval k and n filters.
I fitted a dynojet kit from Debbens for the 1000r 1000j and z1100 and it works very well. I had heard all sorts of horror stories about flat spots and poor tick over, perhaps I'm not such a perfectionist as some but it really doesn't suffer from any of these issues. If the carbs and inlet rubbers are in good condition the kit is simple to fit (i borrowed my wife's dremmel for the drilling required) fitted the new needles and the largest main jets supplied. I hold up the back of the carbs with cable ties.

Pluto, two queries..
What drilling is required?
Why hold up the back of carbs?

The hole in the bottom of the carb slides and the air jets are enlarged slightly using drill bits supplied in the kit. The instructions that come in the kit are very good.
The reason to support the back of the carbs is that with no air box to hold them in place there is a lot of strain on the inlet rubbers when the carbs bounce up and down and over time this splits the rubbers. The cable tie or similar limits the movement
