My Dads Motorcycle shop in the 60"s.

#1 PostAuthor: gordon62 » Tue Feb 05, 2013 12:02 am

Hi all,

Not sure if I shown this pic on here before, so I put it on, This was my dad"s shop in Southampton in the 60"s I was very young, but I do remember it well, we used to repair police bike too  and they would be line up the alley way, can remember the big telephones they had.. we did live above the shop for a short while, my dad did repairs, spares and accessory"s
and the odd bikes, I only ever saw british bike"s, dont recall any jap bike"s.
sadly the business was sold on in 1969, one of the partners that bought the business is still in business today, to what is now park road powerbikes which is and has been in shirley rd for some years now..

Was it Alan Bennetts in Portswood? ..... also the scrap bike shop down a steep hill not far from the TV centre :?:

Lovin' the Wolseley - I had a 16/60 when I was 18yrs - paid £150 for it  Ace car, had a knackered battery so use to pose outside the pub and start it with the crank-handle  The leather bench seat was cool too.
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

It was ALEC BENNETS in portswood, I"m guessing you mean southern motorcycles, bunch of crooks they were..I did work for them stripping the bikes down
or could have been Bevois Valley motorcycles, they are on a very steep hill, Greggs was the owner, been there since 1946, greggs died last year 85ish, his son runs it now,
