kev, the stronger advance springs won't hurt, as the advance may just be coming in a bit later. Check with a strobe to see when its moving.
Weaker springs are worse as the advance will kick in early and this may lead to pre-ignition/detonation/pinking, which is BAD NEWS
At least you're making good progress, which is always very satisfying
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Here is the NOS advancer that came from Canada, it was boxed in a KHI box with part number 21148-005 but this had been changed by pen to 21148-010, this has the wrong springs at the moment, but will be put back to original when my Dyna 2000 turns up.

and here are a couple taken from the Z1 Enterprises site....

The first picture is the early Z1 advancer - note how close the F mark is to the TDC mark.

This second picture shows the advancers run from mid-1974 through into the KZ1000 models.

I picked up the 29mm Miks today, and although the pictures don't do them justice I know you would like to see them.

NEW CARBS

Yes indeedee! I have fitted my new 29 miks, and I am indeed a happy Z1 owner, and best of all they were set up correctly right out of the box, and all were balanced when I dropped down to MTC Motorcycles to have them tuned in. Someone even made an offer to buy it while it was in there today.
Of course it is now raining so I can't get out for a decent ride (wimp), but all the mechanics were amazed how good it runs now. I am of course looking forward to getting in a longer run so I can be sure all is well, but so far so good.
