I've decided to stick with my alloy seat for now.
Things have already ventured off the original plan to keep it simple and i would like to get it finished sometime this year if i can

BUT! here is a re-scaled image anyway.

I too favour the homemade seat, proportionally more in keeping with the tank.

Little bit more progress.
oil pump, sump and clutch cover on so it's now all oil tight.

Image
Chain on and gear linkage extended to fit with some 10mm hex ally bar
Image

Oil cooler mounting finalised with hooks for retaining strap , just needs a coat of paint to finish

Made a start on trimming the XJR front mudguard.
Image

But for one reason or another i wasn't happy with it
Image

Decided to go back to plan A and have a crack at whittling some of that alloy road sign
Guesstimated the shape i needed , cut it out and beat the crap out of it for two days until i had ....

Image

....THIS
Image

Image

The last time i did this it produced a copper ash tray in second year metalwork
Image
Image
Image

Several hours (and blisters :( ) later a very long session with the files and course paper produced a smooth surface ready for the final finish
Image

Not bad eh?

Think this looks much better than the xjr one ?.
Just need to figure out the mounts now.

you need to make an English wheel.

For mudguard clearance I thought the OCC way of running a length of chain over the wheel and using that as a spacer was good.
