Please don't (keep your gob shut).

Just remember that the written word can come across very differently to the spoken. A throwaway comment down the pub can seem like a mortal insult when it's written down :)

And its sometimes a hard lesson to learn

Hutch
Good to see you have regained your sense of humour and retracted those horns that were sticking out of your head at the weekend
Please don't take it personally at the mention of Ralph Pitlock or Heinz Loblein on this thread or as you have on earlier ones.
As regards the rootbeer/jaffa craic I can holds my hands up and say"I have been misinformed and fed wrong info in the past" but I thankyou for putting me right and take your ridicule in good spirit.
Using the Paintworkz site as a point of reference is not an insult to you and you were never mentioned in a derogatory manner, infact you were never mentioned at all, if you had a website then maybe that would have been mentioned as a point of reference.
I still standby what I say, so many Z1/A/B tanks have been spolit by painters getting the lining position wrong and Ralph's OWN work is a good reference point for the correct lining positions.
Regards
Steve
PS.Padders F**k off and stop stiring it

malmojoe wrote:Hello Mark,
here is a link which explains how the paint was done. http://www.paintworkz.com/Paint.html
The design is done in black and white - the white goes on first then the black. Then a coat of fine silver/grey flake in clear lacquer (I think its about 200 m pearl) goes all over. The top coat is either orange or yellow candy, depending on if you have an orange/brown bike or a yellow and green bike. Too many orange coats will make the colour too red. Similarly too many coats of yelow will make the black too green. The cany needs to be thin enough to let the flakes do their job. the Finally a few coats of clear to finish.
The lines are important and most painters seem to get wrong. The modern tapes are slightly different widths to the ones used originally, and I think a lot of painters use tapes which are pre-cut to do the pinstripes because its easier - unfortunately they are not correct.
The outer stripe should be 5.5mm, the inner gap should be 8mm. If you are going to do it yourself, I can let you know where I found my materials if you PM me.

welcome to the site
Glyn

paintworkz would be my suggestion also.
Ive got a 10-72 build date z1 back home in the barn somebody did a 70s metalflake green/gold paint job on that Id love to have them do in the yellow instead of the usual 73 orange we got here in the states ,someday Ill get to that project!
