Oil level.
Hi nick, the only place oil may be retained are in the two camboxes. more oil can gather in front cam box because the engine is leaning slightly forward. At this time of year we all know oil is thick and slower to warm through, so a brief start up is encouraging the oil to gather in places where a drain back process is hampered. Leave it for now and come the spring and after a good run out with oil up to temp (thinner) it will drain back and should be fine. If you are using a modern semi 10/40 oil you might need to go for a 20/50 oil in the summer depending on how hot the engine gets, but for now i dont think there is much to worry about.
