To hot to trot.......REG/REC

#1 PostAuthor: SMR610 » Tue Jul 31, 2007 9:03 pm

And so on to the next problem.
Lost all electrics whilst riing today,
main fuse had blown had a quick
look bunged another fuse in and
it blew again,.
What I did find was that even
without the engine running the
regulator,rectifier got really hot,
to hot to touch after just a minute
or so and only cooled down after
the fuse had blown.
This obviously isn`t right is it a
faulty reg/rec or possibly a problem
with the wiring somewhere?

What do you reckon?

Cheers

Hi Allan, sounds to me like a faulty unit.
If you got a genuine K workshop manual it will give meter readings that you should be getting.
Obviously check all wiring and connections, condition of battery, etc.
If you want to borrow a genuine Kawasaki manual, send me an email with your postal address and I'll get 1 in the post at the weekend.
I've got to sort my GPz wiring out over the winter, otherwise it'll be the world's heaviest push bike

Hi Jack,
Thanks very much for the offer of the manual it`s
most appreciated.
I`ve ordered a new reg/rec anyway, for ?50 I thought
it was worth a try.

Cheers
