z1100r dynojet kit

I have obtained a dynojet kit for my elr,the code number is DJ2134 and is specified for the j and z1000r models,is this the correct kit for my bike,as I think the carbs were different on these models?

dont think there was much difference apart from the 1100r ones were painted black whilst the others were un painted theyre both bs 34 :wink:

the z1000r elr and z1100r elr use different engines :D altho it is looking like they used the same carbs,(perhaps with different jets/needles)if anyone has fitted a dynojet kit to an 1100 elr I would be glad to hear from them

Hi Weaver,
When you look at the back of your carbs which ones do they look like? I was sold a set of Gpz750 carbs which are the ones with 2 holes. The ones with 4 holes are off a Z1100 and that is what the kit you have is for. The carbs with 2 holes which I think were fitted to the 1100R (perhaps someone can confirm?) have a different air jet (much bigger) which also requires bigger main jets and a different needle. There is no kit available for the 1100R but there is a kit for the Gpz750 available which has a brass air jet that you have to screw in to the carb. The kit you have you drill out the air jet with supplied bit.
I was going to buy the gpz750 kit and try it out but I don't have a spare hundred pounds to waste if it doesn't work!
Let me know if all this sounds possible.

Thanks for the reply,I will have a look at my carbs today to see which ones I have.The kit I have does instruct you to drill the slides and the air jet as you say.I dont want to drill my carbs and end up making them unusuable.
I have seen plenty of pics of 1100r's on the net with k and n filters which would make you think they have a dynojet kit fitted,so hopefully someone who has actually done it will come along

had an gpz 1100 which i put a stage 3 kit in as u say u get a drill to drill slides theres a brass air corrector what u glue in ..also new needles and some washers to lift em .. mine came with 2 sets off mains 1 set is used if fitting k+n filter in airbox other set(larger jets ) for individual k+ns .. word of advice dont but the shitty cheap filters as it wont rev past 6000 .. buy k+n or s&b filters .... ps itll run sweet :wink:

cheers Steve,looks like your kit was different to mine as you had to glue in the air corrector whereas my kit requires you to drill out the air jet,I have tried the cheap air filters on a bandit,as you say they wouldnt let the bike rev out,went to k&n's and all was fine,any one done an 1100r?

had a look on the cmsnl website at the z1000r and z1100r diagrams,the carbs appear to be exactly the same apart from an extra part on the z1000r diaphragm assembly

the top one is the 1100...

I have a kit too and instructs you to drill the air jet out. the kits must have change as the ealier kit i fitted required restrictors in the air jet. the early kit had very long needles and large main jets as the neeedle stays in the jet emulsion tube longer, the new kit has short needles and smaller jets. I think Dynajet must be still developing the kits, but can contact them and ask about the air jets they usually get back to you quick.
