Ok so a bit bigger progress today, I now have a Z1000 J engine!

This is what $300AUDcan buy you, not bad when the only other engines I can find are a bottom end for $999
And one for $1200 condition unknown....

So I got a set of MIKUNI carbies

And the engine with no broken fins!!!!!!!!!!

Mmmmm power........

I also got the coils and was supposed to get the loom but the dickhead chucked it, so I said to throw in he tank( with taps and sender unit and let's call it even! Done deal....... Ha what a fucken idiot!!!!!!!

On closer inspection of the barrels I see 1.089L not 998 cc........
Have I scored myself a Z1000R engine?

No mate, it`s an 1100 top end.

A look at the engine number will confirm if it`s a J, GPZ or GPz motor.

KZTOOJE is a J motor or KZT10BE for GPz. I don`t know the sequence for GPZ.

Doesn't mean that's the market value.

Looking promising so far.
The inlet cam with the single groove is a Z1000J
The exhaust cam with no groove is also a Z1000J

The 1100B 1982 has three grooves on both shafts.

That looking like an injection head i would hazard a guess at B1.
It has different cams than the B2 so i would guess at J1 type cams having different lift patterns for inlet and exhaust.

That valve does look good.
The seat width should be between 0.8 and 1.2 mm. Be sure not to cut the valve seat or the valve head at the seat but rather the throat and relief angles until you get the correct width or you may be in for a nasty financial surprise.

I will guess that you have come across the incorrect information regarding cam cap torques????????

Keep it up it will be smashin.
:D

AL

That tail fairing with the 1000 on it is the same as the one on the front of the manual.
I am curious as to whether it is a production colour scheme or a copy of the manual, and is the manual therfore a mock up or a real colour scheme.

I am confused!!
