Very tasty. Reminds me of my old Z1000A.

Agree with piggy on this one, there is no sensible budget when it comes to Zeds, they deplete bank accounts better than wives and kids. :(

Love it :!:
As Boris Johnson would say -

Cats eye tail light fits well under the tail piece (have tried one meself but went the LED route) as for budgets, as they say "think of a price - double it and you'll be about right."

Wow Steve, you seem to have suddenly moved this forward. Its looking brilliant, possibly going to be my favourite GB creation so far.

I know you planned this to be a bit of a budget build compared to the last one but I don't think you will allow yourself to cut any corners, its not in your nature. I'm really excited to see how this progresses.

Thanks Chaps.

Hopefully I'll have the forks back from Hard Chrome Plating next week. The bottoms are sat here gleaming, thanks to Mikey. New seals are on their way with some other stuff from Germany. Z-fever.de With a bit of luck I'll get them re-built & fitted next week.
KeithZ1R kindly dropped off my Alfa 4-1 with Camcoat last week (another beer I owe you Keith :wink: ) That may be ready next week. Just got to work out some logistics to get it back, although I think Keith & I may have a 'sketchy' plan.
Just about to get back out there...... watch out for the 'next instalment'. :D

Managed to re-fit the re-built carbs today, using these re black zinced brackets. Thanks again Mikey!

Main job of today was to make a start on the switchgear. I had a bit of a stash to choose from;

Image

I selected & stripped this pair;

Image

After a quick visit to the blast cabinet they looked like this;

Image

Then around four coats of hammerite satn (aerosol) followed by half an hour at 120 Degrees C.

Image

I will 'pay for this' once the wife gets home........ The whole kitchen stinks. :ek :ek

End result looks like this; should look even better in daylight.

I blew some rattle can paint over the starter solenoid, just for protection today, and on my way back through the house dripped some paint on the floor tiles. When I noticed, some hours later, I wiped it up with a thinners soaked rag, and madam wasn't impressed by the smell - God know what your missus will make of baked hammerite :) :shock: :lol: :lol:

Best you have some cans of anaesthetic before she returns :lol:

... or as my dad used to put it:

"A divorce may sound like a hard solution at the beginning, but it makes cleaning the house so much easier."

Clever old guy he is.

On a completely different note, a bunch of flowers works wonders with the ladies. :wink:

Cheers,
Greg

Oh yes, both my dad and myself are in the same position and yes, we both made sure we kept the house and the bikes ;-)

Life is good lads, :lon Wife came home to a well vented, but still warm house.
After venturing into the kitchen, I suggested that she went & laid on the bed whilst I brought her a coffee. Not a mention about any fumes.... Anyhow, after a quick turnaround we were taxi'd off to a local restaurant. The food was excellent....... and as for the bill....... Could have had two sets of forks re-chromed for less :shock: :shock: :roll: :roll:

I did something similar a few years ago.
Got to the engine part of the Moke and decided to paint it, the instructions said to put the block in the oven to harden!
The Mrs went out as usual Saturday morning so this was my chance!
Oven on, block in and waited half an hour, unfortunately the thermostat on the cooker was iffy and basically the engine was cooked that hot that the aluminium bearings melted, so you can imagine the smell.
2 months latter we moved house! Expencive paint job as I letter found that one of the bores had cracked as well :oops:

You can see the bonze effect :roll:

And i thought i was the only one that used the oven when shes out!
Top tip.... I turn on the oven on for 2mins to heat up (fan assist) then off, put your painted bit's in, for 10/15mins, then take them out, Put the oven back on FULL for 10mins, that burns off all the paint fumes, a clean smell free kitchen. If you use old cans, you MUST pop then with a screw driver, to let the pressure out. We don't want any cans exploding. :oops: :)
