Any suggestions for a smaller oil pressure switch?

#1 PostAuthor: LondonZ1 » Wed Oct 24, 2012 8:29 pm

I want to fit an oil cooler and an oil pressure sensor to my Z900. The obvious place to fit the pressure sensor is where the oil switch goes. I was thinking of making a small adaptor that will screw in to replace the switch and accept a small pressure sensor and a smaller replacement switch. That way I keep the oil pressure light and can utilise the oil pressure function in the tacho I am fitting. But it means I need to find a smaller oil switch if I am going to have room for an oil cooler take off as well.

As far as I can work out, the std switch triggers at a very low pressure. Any suggestions on how I can source a smaller modern switch that will trigger at low pressure? There are lots of small car ones on ebay but I am guessing they have a higher threshold.

It's certainly a possibility. I think I might buy one of the inexpensive small car switches on ebay and investigate further before deciding.
