Powder coating rear brake caliper?

#1 PostAuthor: JohnC » Thu Oct 18, 2012 12:10 pm

Can anyone recommend a good powder coating firm that can 'sympathetically' bead blast and powder coat the rear caliper from my Z1000A1?

I'm based in Scotland but happy to sent it anywhere that can do the job without mucking it up.

If anyone has had this done, am I best leaving the pistons in the caliper which would only leave the fluid galleries and mating surfaces needing to be masked? Perhaps they could even bolt the two halves of the caliper together before coating?

Thanks.

John

Here's one that they did for Mikey;

The caliper body that is, Mikey plated his own nuts.

Nice! I'm going to send my JMC to be polished and then clear powder coated, noticed this was one of the jobs they tackle as well.

Be interested how that turns out - more in the fact of how "clear" it is and how long the coating lasts before it starts to and peel off :|

Be good to see the photo's :!:
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

I'd be hoping that if it's a true powder coating then it should be as tough as any other. I guess only time will tell. I don't do that many miles per year so that might factor in. I certainly ask the question re how clear is clear and post pics up if I do go for it.
