Fuel tap refurb

#1 PostAuthor: tlc » Mon Oct 08, 2012 7:34 pm

I dug out an old fuel tap for a member that needed a part.
After discussions it seems that mine is salvageable and is worth trying to restore.
In really good shape overall I only need new gauzes for the pipes but after a fruitless search of the forum I`m asking if anyone can help.

I was sure someone had restored one from a Z1.

Chris
I believe the small gauze filters are avialable as a lawn mower part, maybe Atco. The other problematic part is the internal cup shaped rubber, they go hard, and this used to be available from Americanclassix.
I think Chris Smith restored his original fuel tap as I did during the 73 Z1 rebuilds. The internal rubber being soaked in petrol or thinners overnight and greased with brake caliper silicon before assembly.
Regards
Steve
