Cam chain front guide removal

Trying to remove the single Philips head bolt that holds the front cam chain guide in place but the little blighter wont budge. Any tips on how to get it out without causing too much damage?

You should be able to move it with an impact driver.

& use a heat gun around the alloy surrounding it

Thanks guys - I have tried heat and an Impact driver and it still wont budge. It looks like I am either going to have to get a bolt or something welded to the top or drill it and helicoil it .... bugger !

Don't try and drill it take it into an engineering shop and get them to do it.

Got one out by "converting" the chewed phillips to a straight screw followed by a large straight driver with mole grips clamped on the shaft :) the second I bought an air impact gun :lol:

Try some left hand cut drills,starting at the smallest size and working gradually up ,i have had quite a bit of success with these,a bit of luck and it will spin out as the size gets bigger or with care you will get big enough to pick out remains of threads..good luck..

Thanks to everyone for the tips. I managed to get it out today using a combination of penetrating fluid, heat and left hand drills. It finally unscrewed on the end of a 4mm LH drill - No thread repair needed :D
