oil light - oil pump fix

#1 PostAuthor: hanskloss » Mon Sep 10, 2012 8:45 pm

Just went through the battle with oil light coming on under acceleration (and staying on for 10-20 seconds, very frustrating , had to stop the engine several times in traffic) and thought I'd share the info for reference. I'm running a newly rebuild engine and did not check the oil pump while putting it together as never had this problem running the old one.
As per service bulletins done easy thing first - replaced the Z1 type oil light switch with newer type, the whiter one on the photos

unfortunately this swap made no change, so next step was to drop the sump and inspect the oil pump, turned out to be all fine with hardly any wear, side clearance was good for 0.10mm gasket, final step was to do the mod described in bulletins, drilled 0,8mm hole as pictured

fitted new gasket and problem sorted, taking off the lights with a grin again:)
