What wire goes here then?

#1 PostAuthor: Hinckley » Tue Aug 28, 2012 12:43 pm

Got a bit stuck! anyone know what wire is meant to go under this bolt on the engine casing?

When I stripped the bike down it had a black wire with ring terminal on it but it didn't go anywhere, it was just cable tied off on the frame next to the indicator relay.

There is a black wire with ring terminal coming from the original regulator but originally this was located under one of the bolts on the air box support and it's not long enough to reach the bolt on the engine casing.

Any ideas?

Rob +1. Even on a 650 thats the main earth. Should run up to battery where it bolts on to negative terminal, it should have another (male)terminal coming off up there which plugs into black/yellow (earth) part of main loom.

Pretty sure that type set up is same across Z1 to Z900A4 though individually lengths etc may differ

should look like the third one down in the first picyure, these are for Z650 though, so don't be buying one. The wire from the engine to the battery will be a thick one, not just normal loom wire.

Ah! got it!

Looks like the previous owner ran the main battery negative cable to one of the bolts that hold the battery box by mistake - I just replaced it back to where I found it - I wondered why it seemed so long.

Many thanks guys.
