Spark plug cap

Evenin' Chaps,
Whilst at the West Midz Meet this afternoon, I thought I'd check my spark plugs colour as I've been messin with the air/fuel mixture.
Pulling off one one of the caps resulted in the brass internal bit from the cap staying connected to the plug tip.
John was on hand with his tool kit to ram it back into the cap, screw it in hard and it got me home no probs. (cheers John!)
So the question is, should I replace these caps with NGK ones, and as I've never done it before, how do you change them?

Plug caps are easy to change , they just screw into HT lead but don`t buy 4 of the same as inner and outer cylinder ones have a slightly different angle , Hope you know what i mean !

When fitting the new ones either crimp the end of the HT lead together a bit or cut a mm or 2 off it if it can be spared. That will help the threaded spike on the new cap get a good tight grip of the cable.

Thanks for the replies chaps.
There are various models on the NGK website.
Does it matter which length/angle you go for or is it just personal aesthetic preference?
Also is it best to go for the ones that connect directly to the threaded stud or the ones that connect onto the little nipple that screws onto this?

i was lucky with mine, mines on a gpz, all four of mine were the same shape/angle/height and i got away easily, but remember the two centre ones are usually deeper recessed in the fins(and the fins could be closer together) so the angle can matter

Great price!!!

They haven't got those particular style of caps on their website so I've emailed them to find out if they can supply.
They do have other types, so I hope they can get them in as they're only about £2 each!

Personally I wouldn't touch any spark plug cap with a built in resistor.
IMO the NGK plug caps are not as good as they used to be.
Stuff interfereance on TV's, stick to unresistorised caps.

i dont, i used ones from my local shop, unsure what make they are, rubber ones with a clamp on, think wemoto have them, may be crap? dunno? but working well so far

TROUBLESOME,,is that ocd kicking in again PC have you been dropping the sump pan and waxing the mesh on the oil pump filter to improve flow.or got your tooth brush cleaning between the tread on the tyres. it very rare i put a spanner to my bike through the summer, they are bullet proof.giving the old boyz a bad name..lol

Just like to thank PertonPC for sorting me out a set of NGK Caps at right money.
Also had a lesson in fitting them on a bit of spare HT cable whilst partaking in a coffee at the kitchen table this morning!

first time i fitted plug caps, i thought this dont seem right, just screwing into the end of the lead, i assumed it would be a real solid crimped connection
