is this for a combined reg/rec for a Z1/z900/z1000 ?

if so it doesn't sound right

you should have 3 yellow wires, a red/white (or red or brown depending on supplier) and a black - some also have a switch wire.

3 x yellow wires - feed from alternator - should get 6-7v off each of them.
red/white - goes into loom - connect to battery side of the switch.
black - earth wire - connect to frame.

connect your green wires go to the black wire or direct to earth. the brown wire on your old unit is a switched 12volts when the ignition is tuned on + the white with a red stripe is a permanent 12 volts from the battery . on the new unit are there 2 red wires or has one got a trace colour/ stripe?

Nowt wrong with H**** units used one or two, been using the cheapo ones off ebay recently £29 work fine!

Red white is the feed into the battery the brown wire is the trigger live, 14.6 volts dc at 2.5 k revs if all well...

you should have 12 volts a the red/white permanently + 12 volts at the brown only when the ignition is on.make sure your green wires are going to a good earth = black/yellow on kawasaki. have you tested the output from the generator? what was the reason you have changed the regulator/ rectifier

according to the H**** wiring diagram the black wire is the switched live ie goes to the brown wire on you bike. the thing that is confusing me is you have (two)red/white wires going to the permanent live do you know the exact model the replacement H**** unit is from
