Z1b carb settings

Hi i've got a z1b which has been imported and runs bad low down i have stripped the carbs had them in a ultrasonic tank main,pilot jets and needle are all right with the manual i have to have air screws nearly all the way out for it to run ok new plugs timing ok do'nt know what else to do are the carbs from the states the same? are all the slide cutaways the same it's got std airbox on and 4:1 can any one help or has any one got any spare carbs to sell

Steve,
The only difference in basic setup I'm aware of between USA carbs & European is the needle slide 'c' clip setting.

Firstly does the bike fire-up on choke properly? If not its more than likely the emulsifier tubes are blocked or the passageway behind them OR the hole in the carb bottom into which the emulsifier tube rests is blocked.

If it runs poor anywhere upto 1/4 throttle then thats a slow running jet/passageway issue.

If you've got your airscrews adjusted all the way out then your in the mire.

Have you checked the float height settings?

Have you checked that the carbs are fitted with the correct size jets and is the 'c' clip on the needle slide in the mid slot i.e. 3 of 5?

Hi the float heights ok 24mm in the clymer manual and circlip is on the 2nd groove down which is what the manual says i borrowed a set off an a4 put them on today best it's ever run but after about 20 miles started missing badly got home took the carbs off had a look inside all seemed ok put the old ones on run really bad with these on worse than it did before i think i have a coil braking down ???
