Stiff fuel tap
Ant help here, the fuel tap on my Z1R is so stiff to turn, worried I might snap the lever at times, cleaned it out last week, put on new O ring put a touch of grease on the O ring put back together, fine nice and smooth, week gone by stiff to turn again? is it the modern fuel?

I think not fuel,
My original (1975) Z1 fuel tap was a little stiff to turn up to reserve setting but ok between on and off.
Fitted new genuine fuel tap - much smoother action between all positions.
Fuel did not change.
Conclusion - it's a wear thing. Will monitor and see how long new one takes to go stiff.

For my Z1r, I have owned 2 fuel tanks for years -
Sometimes I use the smaller tank, as I prefer the appearance - and sometimes I fit the larger tank - usually for longer journeys.
The fuel tap on the smaller 3.1 gallon tank has, from new, always been a swine to turn.
The smaller tank also has a physically smaller tap which exaggerates the problem, as it gives you less leverage.
The larger 4.5 gallon fuel tank (which I am currently using) has always been silky smooth in operation. This is my most 'recent' tank which I have had since 1987.
I always thought this issue was just inherent in the small tank tap design.
