Z1000 A1 A2 rear hub disassembly

Does anyone know how to take off the steel chrome plated spoke ring from the rear hub (spoked wire wheel) ??Is it an interference fit or is there a screw fixing hidden in it somewhere to release it??
Need to get it off to get rechromed :?: :?:
I'd rather be riding my Z1 thinking about God than sitting in a church thinking about my Z1..

I think it is interference/press fit

These are impossible to remove. I have tried heat, freezing - nothing will budge them. You could clean it up a and spray with a chrome finish.

I tried replating one of these last year
but could not succesfuly mask the alloy part of the hub.
Making the world a shiny place with a factory finish

they can be removed but it is not a DIY job i had one removed years ago by a local engineering company who specialised in manufacturing old British bike crankshafts. they removed it with the use of a 50 ton press. they had to make a support to fit on the inside of the hub so the the chrome ring was supported then the hub was pressed through the chrome ring

Definitely not a DIY job :shock: :shock: !!!!! Cheers z1bman, i'll ask a mate who works in an engineering shop, see if they can do it :)

I thought as AdrianH did..... That the chrome piece could not be separated...
One of my many bad decisions! I was proved wrong! Z1Bman's 50 ton press is probably the answer!

yeh iv recently tryed to remove one :oops: in the end up i powder coated it with chrome silver ! looked well smart :wink:
