Z1100R? Petrol cap unique to this model?

#1 PostAuthor: brian 1100 » Mon Jul 02, 2012 11:28 am

My petrol cap leaks but I'm unable to get new rubber gasket.

According to Z Power the part number should be 11009-1051.
I ordered one but it doesn't fit.
I checked with an online mircofiche and this is the part for Z1000R, 1100B1/2 and pretty much any of the Kawasakis of that era (can't find an online one for Z1100R)
Photo attached. On the far left is the new one, next to it the old one.
The new one is almost flat whereas mine is a top hat.

Any ideas?

can you not adjust the compression part of the cap to allow it to seal :?: had a similar issue with one of the Z1r's kinda fixed it by backing of the adjustment spring in the centre of the cap

I have both types of cap. The one like your picture was black chrome before i painted it. It has the same rubber as yours and internals.
The other one i have is the one that takes the other rubber gasket that they sent you. It has different internals

If you get stuck you are welcome to the top hat version which wasnt leaking about a month ago when i switched caps over to the other type if that makes sense. :gob

I know what i meant.

Cheers Al.
I'll try adjusting or spacing out the ring that puts pressure on the seal first.

Tank needs repainting again as I dropped it in the garage resulting in a couple of dents and a huge gouge of paint being removed. I'll get it done over the winter and may try to find someone who can fit a modern flush fitting cap in there.
