Z1 high output oil pump

#1 PostAuthor: Big Fluff » Tue Jun 19, 2012 12:20 pm

Anyone know of one that may be available, or where on earth to get one from.
Don't suppose anything else will fit or could be bastardized into delivering more than standard :?:

The oil pump on my turbo was optimized by lapping the sides of the case to get the tolerances as tight as possible.

I'll give Ray a call, see what he says.

If it were an old GSX1100 it was simple.... you just fitted a GS750 pump :??

We used to do the same with the pumps on the Scania DS 11 engines.
They would tick over in the red when hot.

After the mod the pressure was superb.

I read somewhere , and I wish I could remember where !! that the pump off a GPz1100 is a greater output owing to the fact it has an oil cooler as standard ... :)
I'd rather be riding my Z1 thinking about God than sitting in a church thinking about my Z1..

Gpz11 pump is exactly the same output.
The only advantage of using one is that they might have slightly less wear on them due to being 'newer'.

Spoke to Ray Debben, nothing available and no suggestion. My motors the best its ever been but just sounds a little metallic after a good hot run.

I have oil pressure gauge fitted, using Rock Oil TRM (synt 20W50) the reading at 3000 rmp on hot engine was about 3-4 psi - about right by the book, when filled with LiquiMoly cheap oil (mineral 20W50) the gauge would stay at 0 psi until about 5000 rpm, cold reading was near 15 psi on both oils, small gauge and might be not very precise but shows the difference

The turbo bikes run VERY hot. What ignition setup do you have?

I'm running a Dyna 2000 set to retard a minimum of 8-12 degrees when fully advanced. I also recently added an air/fuel sensor to better tune the setup.
We are currently playing with the retard settings, and fine tuning the accelerator pump to feed the turbo deeper into the throttle opening.

Here's a short video of the setup.

Yes I know.!
Dyna 2000, 34 degrees BTDC, boost activated retard at 6psi by -4 degrees (30 degrees BTDC).
Mikuni HSR42, Rajay 370 blower with 'A'-flow turbine (very aggressive compared to 'F'-flow). I run this at a moderate 11 psi on road (on super unleaded).
Rest of the motor; S+S cams, S+S head with +1mm exhaust valves, ported compressor housing, MTC 76mm, 7.8:1 CR, wired liners, MTC lock-up, Dyna coils, MSD leads.
Not overly hot, but like I said, just sounds like the oil's a bit thin.
I run 15W-50 semi synthetic.
