turned engine over and petrol came fly out breather pipe, drained about 7 litres of petrol out of sump.
question, what do i do next ?change filter and refill with mineral oil run it up and change oil again with semi syntectic or am i in for a strip down ?

first job is to drain the oil & filter with the bike in a upright position + leave to drain overnight with the filler cap removed. also remove the spark plugs + leave for the same amount of time. next remove the carbs + the fuel tank + drain. remove the fuel tap clean the fuel filter + inspect the diaphragm for any damage. you will then need to strip the carbs + inspect the float needle jets for any wear or debris. i would advise removing all the internals in the carbs + thoroughly clean them. next check the fuel levels you will need a special tool for this but is available from z power + not expensive . i would leave the carbs of the bike preferably clamped carefully in a vice for a couple of days linked up to a dummy tank just to make sure the carb fuel level does not start creeping up . then fill the bike with your preferred oil + a new oil filter

I had the same on my Z1100R vacuum tap was leaking. I fitted a pingel tap which has been fine.

With new fuels coming in and also the bike not being used all the time it seemed the best option.

You're lucky it didn't get into a cylinder and cause a hydraulic lock when you turned it over

As it is - you should be OK.

I had similar thing with me bestest Z1000 last year

Slightly different tho' - I cleaned me carbs (RS36's) and when re-assembling didn't do the pilot jets up  Bike ran shite for a few miles (really rich) and when I got back the excess fuel had been blowing past the rings - at least thats what I put it down to - and the oil was fuel contaminated..... so must have run it like that a few times until I sussed the problem  :??

So I changed the oil & filter - did the pilots up - and all been good since
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
