hi, my z1r has a wiseco 1105,the longest duration cams i could use before under bucket shims , flowed head, kerker pipe.dyna 2000.
i brought a set of rs 34 flatslides but didnt really like them,[ the rattling was louder than my clutch, and didnt pull so well at the top range ] so refitted my set of cv36,s off a suzuki efe. as i did prefer them and pulled better / higher rev range
.hopefully somene can tell me should i go for a set of 33 smoothbores and are they better, i realize their popular with the classic racers . or try again with the rs34,s when the bikes finished and if so anyone got a good starting point for jetting. cheers

What size mains are in the 34's and what filters is it using?

If the slides rattle like mad, you should start with syncing the slides. If they are sync'ed correctly, you will hardly hear them (only when idling).

17.5 pilots and around 120 to 125 mains worked quite well, but I never really got the hang with the accelerator pumps.

Personally I prefer a smaller carb, like the 29s from a GSXR750 as it suits my riding style a lot better.

Judging by your post, you have the needle setting and or the mainjets wrong... due to all the adjustability it is quite easy to get lost.

I had RS34's fitted to my Z1105 & found them a massive improvement over standard, even at 'town' speeds the bike was very rideable.
Sadly I can't remember what was in them jet wise, but I wouldn't rule them out to quickly.

Go down to 120 or 122.5 I'd say.

Are these 'proper' RS34's or a set from a GSXR750? Suzook ones can be easily identified because of the 'sloping' float bowls.

Easier still: Are the throttle cables in the middle (i.e. between 3 and 4) or to the left (between 1 and 2).

If they are between 3 and 4, then they're RS 34s, otherwise Mikuni VM29SS.

Definently genuine rs flat slides I bought them brand new. At the time wasn't sure to hold out for a s/h 33 smooth bores . And. Decided to go new. But have never had 33,s and wondering if I made the right decision

I put 140's in the 34's on Fatty's bike to make it go faster and it did but the last 100 foot of the quarter mile it was always strangled for air. previously it had 130 somethings in it.

Removing the air filters ( oval ones not the restrictive conical ones) is worth 3 BHP on the dyno. Fitting a set of short but broad bellmouths was an additional 1 or 2 BHP and removing the baffle is worth another 3 BHP on the dyno.

I have a set of 130 somethings here if you want to try them for size.

I have been fitting 34 rs's 33 smothbores etc for years you are in the ball park with 125 /130 mains but you will never get them right for your motor without a dyno set up. I would find a good dyno shop near you and get if set up properly your bike may need anything from a 110 to a 140 and you will never know untill you put it on rolling road. ( I cannot stress this enough). i had my GPZ1100B1 33 smoothbores, thought it was ok took it took ledar dyno he told me 75 BHP at the back wheel (1170 cams and 4-2-1 pipe) after he sorted it out 125 BHP on carb's alone.
