Up north run and scottish rally

#1 PostAuthor: FER » Sun Jul 01, 2007 7:21 pm

Anyone interested in having a run through the Scottish highlands and Skye before the scottish rally ? Our intention is to head out on wednesday the 8th of august from the service area at Stirling on tha M9 around noon / 1pm . We would be heading up through Glencoe for a stopover on wednesday night then more tourist stuff and another stopover on thursday . Friday would be a run back south to the rally site at Crail . Chief Thundercloud is going to post some pics of a proposed stopover site. Please give me an idea of the number of people coming , thanks .

Glenuig prices

#6 PostAuthor: Jacko » Mon Jul 02, 2007 8:32 am

STOP PRESS!! My mistake about the prices sorry guys it's more expensive for the chalets, it's 65 quid per room. Expensive but they are very big and well equiped. The bunkhouse is the best option coz it's much cheaper.

From the website
"Rooms are offered on a whole room basis.
Brand New en suite rooms - ?65 per room
In addition, we have a bunkhouse, sleeping 8 people in 2 rooms. The bunkhouse has been recently refurbished and, for those on a budget, is the ideal solution. The rooms share a bathroom with a shower and are only ?10 per person per night. Alternatively we can offer a whole room for ?30 per night, this sleeps a maximum of 4 people.
Bunk Room with shared bathroom - ?30 per room"

Check out their website www.glenuig.co.uk

A helicopter would have been nice Davy but it's a tad out of my budget so I had to climb up instead. Not too exhausting even for a lazy git like me but the view was well worth it. In the distance are the Islands of Eigg and Rhum with the Cuillin Hills of Sky behind them. If it ever stops raining and the sun comes out on the 8th of August it'll be a fair treat for everybody who goes on that run.

Fer - Is that J9 services ? how many miles / hours is Glenuig from the services. Are the tickets for the rally from Ian as usual?

Just had a word with Pete who runs the Glenuig Inn. He is getting very busy and has had a lot of bookings. I was able to get one side of the bunkhouse for the 8th, so that's four beds. I booked one chalet, I know it's expensive but they have a super king sized bed and a single bed and you'd get a forth person on the floor if they bring an airbed so the cost could be spread out. There is also space near the pub to put up tents. I need to know how many people want the accomodation option so I can work out if we need the chalet (it would work out at 16.50 per person for four people) Pete is keeping it for me until this weekend when I have to confirm if we want it. Also please take note his breakfast's are 7 quid, not cheap so you may want to make your own arrangements.

Thanks Hobbo and Mysticzed, I've put you on the list. I'm seeing Ferry this weekend and hope to find how many others are turning up for the run. Lets hope it's stopped raining by then!
