Cor - you got a posh Kawasaki van. Martin picked up my Z1-R last night in an unmarked jobbie.... although he was wearing a Kawasaki T-Shirt :)

Brilliant for you to help out guys. We should have a nice little display - 2 x Z1s, Z1000A1, Z1000J, Z1R and zman's modded 900.

Regards also to zman and mark Tiller for volunteering to help on the day - hopefully it will be worthwhile. As I've said before, many thanks to everyone for their offers of help on this. I'll let you know how we get on.

It is my intention to get along to this but we are having a pre meeting meeting in Cambridge at lunchtime.

Martin very kindly offered to let me ride any of the current range on the day.
"What would you like to ride from the current range?" he said.

I`m afraid I don`t know anything about the current range was my retort

Pah! I didn't wait for an offer... after he'd had a look around my toy cupboard and seen my '07 ZX10R Ex-British Superstock track bike, I asked if there was any chance of a session on a 2012 ZX10R so I could have a play with the traction control.

Not heard owt yet :jok but I bet my name's on a "Don't let these people near our demo machines under any circumstances" list :) :)

Actually he was remarkable receptive to my cheeky request and a nice chap who knows and loves his Kawasakis. A Good Fellow to have on-side for the Club.

Thanks for pointing that out Mark.

Good to know they arrived back at their spiritual home in one piece. :D

A lot of hard work by Ted and it seems to have been a busy and productive day. Thanks also to Mark Tiller, Ruffle and Zed man for manning the stand.

Let the good times roll.

Thanks for all the photos there tlc. Could have been a busier day, but I wasn't expecting to break any records on this one - this was an exercise in the Z1OC helping out Kawasaki and getting some good coverage. In that respect it was a success. Said it before, but this couldn't happen without the help provided and further help offered by Club members. Thanks especially to zman and MarkTiller for taking the day off to help out.

Once we'd set the bikes out we had a fairly quiet (and hot!) morning, but signed on 2 more members for the Club. One such new member is Tim Blakemore, who was on the bike display with us, showing a couple of superb drag bikes. Could not fail to be impressed by the 750bhp machine which Tim built from scratch. See http://www.timblakemoreracing.co.uk/bla ... ation.html Tim has had a record breaking Z - based bike for years and is restoring several Z1s. A very handy and knowledgable addition to the club.

After watching the Craig Jones stunt demo, our day was lightened by the appearance of spmilne, tlc, bunnyz, paul mceleney, GottaZ1B and ruffle. Thanks for popping along guys.

The day finished about 5pm and all bikes packed safely away in vans for return home. Kawasaki very much appreciated the support that Club members provided.

Thanks for the credit but I wasn't 'manning' - merely standing around chatting when you got there :)

Nice to see my (Ex-Padders) GPz1100B1 and 750 Turbot as the first pics though (no I didn't ride them both to Silverstone, a m8 was on the 1100 :)

Good to meet a few folk and Ted deserves huge credit for arranging it all. Well done.

Just thought I'd post a message that Martin sent me about the day.

Ted,

Just a short note to thank you and the guys from the Z1OC that helped with the display at Silverstone over the weekend.

There’s a long list of those to thank that includes the members that loaned bikes for the display, those that manned the display and those members that either offered bikes or their services and could not make it on the day.

Featuring an impressive array of Z models across the years form the Z1 to Z1000J, the display was really appreciated by those that came along to the Kawasaki On the Road Tour event – even if I did insist we moved the entire display just before the start!

Adding this to the Superhuman efforts made by the club for the Ace Cafe Kawasaki day, I think the early part of the Z40 celebration has been well served and, once more, Kawasaki Motors UK are in the debt of our friends at the Z1 Owners Club.

Kind regards,
Martin Lambert
