Agree with Crofty this is great stuff.

Will the clutch basket get replaced or can you get in to replace the mullered springs - looks like some hefty rivets holding them.

Is there some sort of (rubber?) damper in the basket? could you show a pic if there is. I'm learning lots from this.

The springs can be replaced, again Chris Applybee does this properly
I've worked on very early '72 bikes and never seen any rubber cush shox but have heard of them being fitted. Any one got any images :?:
The bearing tolerance on this basket is as new so I'll use some German rust treatment to remove & inhibit and it should be fine.

Clutch basket - had some abuse due to wheelies / drag starts?
Rebuild kits are available for Z9 (Debbens, complete with rivets)
Think the rubber cush shox mentoined are on 650's.

Keep it going :up

True, the 650 have rubber cush blocks in the clutch basket, the 900/1000 had springs.
Rubber is complete PITA! I have yet to find/see a basket on the 650/750 that does not have play in it. Had to rebush mine by sourcing some rubbers that a guy in OZ had made in a batch, then drill apart my basket, replace the bushes and then reassemble, as said PITA. Crofty

A few more images showing the tool I use for removing cylinder head studs, if they don't come out with a standard ratchet then its time to use the 3ft breaker bar. I soak these in Release agent for 24 hrs then apply some heat with a blow torch then use the tool. :D :D

Everything is either away being vapour blasted, polished or refurbed so not much more to add until new year.

Sorry lost track trying to complete my Z1000-A1 and the Z1A engine. Images to follow shortly but it's fully assembled now and looking very sweet given what I was presented with. :D
