gpz1100 b1 calipers question

#1 PostAuthor: knut » Wed Apr 18, 2012 2:48 pm

just working on my brake calipers because they where sticking/dragging on the disks, dust seals torn and full of crap, pistons look fine and no sign of a leak,i,ve ordered new seals but was wondering is it better to just change the dust seal and leave the rest alone as it,s ok ?is there an easy way of refitting the dust seals or does the piston have to come out ?
thanks in advance knut
what,s there to say except we,re all mad on here.

Had a problem with my b1 calipers when i first got it,i removed the pistons carefully removed the seals, found a lot of crap and some rust built up under the seal, this pushes the seal tight on the piston and causes them to bind.Needs a good clean scrape out under the seal,i reused my original seals, but put them back with some red rubber grease. They have never leaked or been binding since.I think its best to fit the dust seals with pistons out anyway.Hope this helps Brian.
