oil light

Hi Guys
Need some advice,fitted oil cooler to my z1000 project when i press the starter oil light goes out, but will not come back on and if i take oil light switch out then put in again oil light is on is this normal

the plunger has to earth to the casting that it screws in to for the light to come on. when started up oil pressure pushes the plunger up + away from its earthing point therefore turning the light of. remove the switch + give it a good clean with some brake cleaner

Yes plunger is ok switch is earthed ok, light is on when i turn on ignition but when i press starter with no plugs in, oil light goes out and will not come back on untill i remove the switch and refit it,

does the light come on if you earth the lead. if it does it is a problem with the switch. could be the spring has gone weak. try putting a small washer under the brass plate which is screwed to the plunger

Thanks z1bman the switch works ok it seems like the oil stays in the chamber and stops the plunger from coming back down, does the oil drain back down the lower hole or just down the top one

it should drain down the lower hole
