Gpz clutch rattle

#1 PostAuthor: sockpuppet » Wed Mar 28, 2012 10:24 am

Hello everyone
My 1100b2 has a rattly clutch - cames and goes on tickover an disappears when the lever is pulled in , so i am assuming that its the basket springs .
I have seen rebuild kits - does anyone know how easy/diffucult are they to
fit or am i better off getting an expert to do it for me (if so who ?)
If anyone has had it done can they recommend them and roughly how much does it cost ?
I am assuming a new basket would be stupidly expensive if they are still available !

Cheers in advance
Mick

If it is the springs and they need attention and Gez cant help then Debbens do the spring replacement / rebuild service. You need a 40 ton fly press and the correct rig to hold all the bits and centre the intermediate rings between the basket and its core.
If the springs are OK its down to the steel plates which limit the lateral movement of the basket about the plain centre bearing.
The P. Bronze ring is no longer available but you could have one made and fitted.
I have had more success manipulating the tensile steel plates which sandwich the drums' centre about the plain bush.
ie. the two large flat plates coloured black with the holes in.

Hope this makes sense.
