Hiya Dave

These are measurements from four Z1 series bikes that Garn had access to recently.
Reading taken in mm between inside edges of exhaust mount brackets - without rubber bushes fitted - so it's metal to metal.

When you look at the swing arm from above it should contact the bracket if the shocks were removed and it was allowed to drop. I mistakenly thought there should be a gap at first.

Did both the stands park correctly on all these Zeds?

My Z1b frame had lived without left pipes for many years. Turned out the left bracket was a bit too far out and had to be re-aligned to match the right one - which I originally thought was too close to the swinging arm.

My main stand was new to the bike and also needed warming up and tweaking a bit before it would all park up properly.

But you might be lucky. First test I would do is take your measurements between brackets and check both brackets are an equal distance from the swinging arm. If they are odd you may get issues.

Then put some protective wrapping on the new pipes before you try and park the stands for the first time - especially left lower pipe cos the curve of the main stand has to follow it but leave a little clearance. Mine didn't first time round.

My Exhausts turned up from Z-Fever Germany a couple of days ago and was pretty pleased with the delivery time,
only 5 or 6 days and the pipes were perfect apart from slight mark on the inside of no.3 downpipe. The packaging was pretty
good too with the pipes wrapped in cling film then sort of plumbers pipe insulation wrapped around the whole length
of each pipe, :up I had a small hiccup during fitting tho turns out the Zpower parts manual and Beezeees parts
diagram show the rear wheel spindle nut on the left of the bike which is the wrong side :?? and if you fit it on that side
the left lower pipe is hard on to it.(see first pic) Quick swap around and everything fits nicely. I will fill up with oil and petrol tomorrow
and hopefully fire her up for the first time :xbou cant wait.

Theres some really nice bikes around these days but you just cant help but love the raw beauty of an Early Z :luv

She is looking absolutely fantastic. So glad you got the pipes sorted with no further grief. Sometimes pays off to go away and come back with a fresh approach.

Are you aware that the HT leads should be routed via black u clips that fit onto the cam cover bolts at rear of each spark plug??

Looks like yours has the 4 clips missing. Pretty sure they are still avail if you want a finishing touch (not that it needs it).

Is there any chance I could use a picture of her on my Zedrider website gallery page? - taken at a nice scenic location when she is on the road of course.

Cheers Mark, The clips are actually fitted (see earlier pic) cant see them very well on those photos tho and they are mounted on the screws to the front
of the plugs as per the parts manual but tend to agree that they should be on the screws behind the plugs.
I have seen some pics of the clips mounted on both :??

Don't change em on my account. Someone like Z1b man or Garn will be along who knows for sure in a bit. I just flicked all through the Z1 Shop Manual on my website downloads and I can't see a clear reference pic to confirm.

What does the under seat manual show??

My view is that to mount the clips at the front is making the HT do too much of an S shape which looks a bit unnatural. Clips at rear let it follow a more natural curve.
