Hi i have just purchased from the ebay a set of nos z1000j 1 front fork stantions. Next to my old units there both the same length & diameter. But there are some differences. At the bottom of the stantions by the bush there is a machined groove about 5mm in diameter and a hole through the stantion bvetween the bush & groove which isn't on the new set. The thread in the new units are also set deeper within the stantion up to the old one's probably about 10mm. I was told my old forks were z1000j but what model who knows! I wondered if someone had any advice if these new stantions are useable for me. I know some newer parts superseed old ones etc...
many thanks vince

Cant answer youre specific questions but you may find these pictures useful.
They're the forks out of my J1 and i believe them to be original but not certain.

The missing hole probably wont do any harm as they dive very badly under heavy breaking and no holes may help a bit.
That said they are silky smooth for road riding just dont use the brakes
If you need a pair of lower bushes speak to Z Power and ask them for the GPZ dodge as J ones arn't listed but the GPZ ones can be adapted. They will know what you on about.
