Hi all
I have just got my Z900 back up and running and I am hoping to bring it to the rally in Ireland. The following are the problems I am suffering since I took it for a test ride. When the bike is stationary and you open the throttle there is a small delay in the response to the throttle also when the engine is running and you select first gear the revs drop so low that you have to open the throttle further to get enough revs to start moving. If you don't open the throttle it sounds like the engine is going to die. I also notice that when I close the throttle the revs don't drop immediately again there is another delay in response to the throttle. I have had the carbs off the bike for servicing and this was the first time I took the bike for a spin
On the road the bike seem to run OK. Has anyone ever suffered this before, if so what was the problem. I would appreciate any help or advise as to what the problem is.
Thanks
Kevin

Kevin, I have had a similar problem. Regret balancing wasn't the answer to my problem.
These were some of the recommendations I was given to look at:
Check for sticking trottle cables.
Check the manifolds with carb spray... Should change in revs if leaking!
Changed out the whole plate new points and condensor.
Reset carbs idle and set air bleeds at 1.5 turns.
Check springs on advance/retarding mechanism - arms not retracting all the way because springs are slack. Swap out with a tighter spring.
I was also told that a leaking exhaust can cause this lack throttle response.
There is nothing like a crisp throttle reponse!

Thanks Paul, Garn 1,
I will take the advice and go through the process of elminating each possiblity reason which may cause the problem. I will check the setup of the throttle cables etc and see where that takes me. Paul I will give you a call ref the balancing of the carbs. I will let you know how I get on.
Thanks Again
