Starter with no bslls

#1 PostAuthor: Slug » Mon Jan 30, 2012 6:40 am

:( Please could anyone shed some light on my prob?
My Z1B starter has no balls, it spins freely out of the bike when you put it in the bike it bearly spins the engine.
I have cleaned the commutator and the brushes are good, could it have a broken winding?
Does anyone know where I can get it looked at, or if anyone has one for sale.
Many thanks.
Slug.

Sounds to me like you have the ultra rare "female version".

Just a thought - does it kick over normally on the kickstart?( just in case you've got a leaking petrol tap and have developed a hydraulic lock from 1 cylinder being full of petrol)
otherwise sounds like an earthing prob or possibly a weak battery, causing insufficient electrical power to spin the motor hard, against compression
