June 2nd and 3rd
The SHETLAND CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW takes place over this weekend in the far-flung north. The event spreads out over the whole week, and motorcyclists are welcome to stay for the 4th and 5th to take part in sightseeing tours of the Islands. The Show itself takes place at Lerwick on the main island and features over 150 cars and a similar number of old bikes, plus commercials, tractors, cycles, steam engines, military vehicles, models, photos, memorabilia and more. You’re guaranteed a warm welcome from the organising clubs with plenty of special travel rates and accommodation arrangements. The VMCC’s FESTIVAL OF 1000 BIKES returns to Mallory Park. This massive event gives classic enthusiasts the opportunity to ride their own machines in multiple track sessions over the weekend. The Saturday caters for all classes of road machines from the earliest veterans (discounted entry fee available for pre 1925 machines) through to machines of the superbike era. Sunday, with more relaxed noise restrictions, is the day for riders to display their racing machinery in special track sessions running throughout the day. The weekend also provides masses of entertainment for spectators, including a huge line-up of past-masters’ machines and star riders on track; pre-65 trials; historic grasstrack; historic sprint demo, motocross; the avenue of clubs; trade stands & much expanded auto-jumble; motorcycle test rides; stunt show; huge firework display; real ale bar live bands and ‘stars on stage interviews. Track sessions sold out early in 2011 so pre-register for entry forms via www.vmcc.net/1000bikes

The TR3OC host BEEZUMPH 21 at Anglesey Circuit in Wales. Theme is ‘Triples at the TT’. Track tickets for non-members from around £145 (discounts for triple club members). All old Britbikes welcome, not just triples. Rally ticket (no track time) £40 includes three nights camping, programme, badge, band, food and t-shirt. Day tickets £12. There is a chance that I won't make the Shetlands date though. Always try and get to the FOTB at Mallory - had a brilliant weekend there a few years ago at a Laverda Anniversary bash.
