The resto process went something like this....
First a complete strip down taking lots of pics as you go, then de-grease in the hot aqueous cleaning tank and stiffish brush. Then I replaced the caps and float bowls and blanked off every orifice and into the glass bead blasting cabinet to give the aluminium a nice finish.
Take the bowls and caps back off and another good clean in the aqueous tank rodding and blowing out all the galleries. Re- assemble using nice new screws and polishing the caps and outer faces of the bowls.
The circular inserts come out of the bead blast with a nice finish but require a couple of coats of clear lacquer to seal them. The throttle return spring needed re-plating but found a NOS one on E-Bay USA for £8 so saved me the bother.
The throttle and choke rods are originally chromed so made new ones out of stainless steel and polished them...no more rust! also polished up the old spring ready for re-plating if anyone needs one.
The throttle linkages to the sliders were a bit intricate but a careful strip down and clean was all that was needed.see pic of cleaned one next to original. Thats about it bit of work but am really pleased with the result.
