Cheers guys - all valuable stuff.

Now I just have to get the thing down to London. Collection is a last resort as it will take a day and twice the cost of the engine to get here in my car but don't want to risk a courier who would surely smash that motor up.

I got a motor picked up for Bristol to Durham by a pallet haulage firm for £40 the guy strapped it to the pallet with some old tyres around it for protection and I arranged with the firm to collect it no problems and I would use this method again.

Cheers dude - I arranged collection with a firm next day for £65 to Central London - long as it's wrapped up and pallieted they think it'll be fine.

This motor is the last piece of the puzzle for my build so my xmas break is going to see big progress! It's going into Debbens almost right away for a rebuild, 810 rebore and some light head tickling.

Thanks to Steve and Crofty for the heads up - and for all info above.
