Cylinder head wanted. Z9/1000 or maybe even complete engine.

#1 PostAuthor: zed1015 » Fri Dec 02, 2011 5:02 pm

Good usable cylinder head wanted.
Anything from a Z9 /1000/ st /mk2 or even a 1000J.
If mk2 or J must have cam cover also.

Just got a motor in for rebuild and the current head is so bodged and worn (6 bent valves /ground shims /broke exhaust stud castings/no location dowels / imperial bolts forced in etc all recently caused/done by top harley mechanic  ) it will be cheaper to just replace it.
Anything considered.

Update - Complete engine considered after discovering even more Hog brother inflicted horrors lurking inside :( .

No pic's. Owner might not want the publicity.

But to give a rough idea.
Harris Mag 1428, rebuilt motor by "said" Harley bro.
Owner trailers bike home as it's not fully finished and as it's a long termer just keeps spinning it over once a week to keep it oiled and free.
One day it sounds odd and spins over very fast.
Eventually ends up on my doorstep.
Turns out Harley man missed out the one way ballbearing ring in the tensioner hence six bent valves but also left out all the location dowels for the head/barrel and cam caps and on top of that he's bust an exhaust stud casting so wedged in an odd rusty imp threaded bolt, ditto with two capcap bolts + all the cam train components are past knackered and thats just the topend highlights.

There's also an inch wide gouge in one of the freshly bored liners so he's probably bust a ring when slapping it together.
Not got any further pulling apart (but it don't look promising) as i've got two other Zed motors to rebuild before i have the space to spread this one out.
