I won a new NOS fuel tank emblem on e-bay two weeks ago from the USA for $44.99 and $13.50 postage...then today got a card from the post office saying i had to pay another £13.76 :grr :swe
That was £5.76 excise duty and £8.00 Royal Mail International Handling Fee just because the seller marked it as merchandise not gift...what a t**t.
So it cost me the grand total of £52.45p
Anyway you live and learn...never again.

Yea man it sucks..its getting bandit territory from the states..they will not mark as a gift as it's fraudulent and then either include the shipping in the value or in one case of a $12 item becuase the decimal point was evidently not clear i got charged 10x value by customs
£8 is std if parcel force are involved.

When i do deals with the states i send this as a message.
You are more than welcome to use or modify to suit your thoughts..

Hi.Please confirm payment received and shipping details as and when..
If you can mark the item as a gift would be appreciated..If you are unable to i understand.
Please clearly mark the value of the item without the postage added $XX.XX and the decimal point is clear.
Had an item arrive that was not clear making the value 10x and attracted the customs duty.
Thank you with best regards
Grahame

Here is a link to a site that freely 3x per month will do a duty calculation makes the anticipation of what you thought a good deal much better or not so bad..

have fun

Hey Guy

How's the 650 getting along mister :?:

- saw loads of shiny and customised machines at the NEC show today and it made me think of your project.
Hope you're not stuck with anything.

The 650 has come to a halt Mark...my old wiring loom was knackered and a friend of mine said me had one, but he moved not long ago and all the shed full of 650 parts were put in to a container and he hasn't had time to go and have a look...that was a month ago

Truely inspirational.

Way to go, I don't have the time, skill patients, money etc to go that far.

mainly due to spending my spare cash on track days. :D
