Took me bloody ages to source a JMC for mine and you find one in what a week!!
Great stuff. Do you rememebr Ricardos harris that was up for sale a while ago that had a jmc in but an eccentric one.

You have got to be tempted to stick your MK2 sprint engine in the HARRIS ?
I think I had better get on with mine and get it finished otherwise you'll put me to shame! Mind you only had mine for 3 years so early days for one of my projects

KWACKERZ1, yes I am considering using the Mk.II motor
The JMC is of unknown specification - but it was a bargain & only needs 5mm off each side to fit in the frame, and I much prefer the slotted adjusters as the eccentric's are liable to slip & spin
The 190 tyre is gonna cause me a bit of hassle - but cross that bridge when I get there....... I can go down to a 180 if needs be

And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
Had to clean a few bits up on the frame today - there were some old bits of brazing where some lugs had been removed.........
I've got the old lugs ready for "re-attachment" for the lower rear engine mounts, and just need to get it all over to the old chap who's gonna do the job

I've now had the lugs brazed back on and took the frame and swingarm to TALON for an estimate to trim 7mm off each side of the JMC & make a spindle sleeve - as the Harris spindle is 20mm & the needle bearings are 25mm
They said it would be about a days work (setting up the machines takes a while) and £250 max. I could get it done a bit cheaper, but I want this work done right!!!
In the mean time I've made some card board templates of the lower rear engine mounts, to line up with the lugs..... I had some 10mm ally plate which I'll cut out for the brackets.
I also took Mr JigSaw to the Zed Butt unit & hacked a bit of fiberglass off....
The JMC is sitting ON the pivot in those shots and the rear end is sitting rather low.
I'll make some brackets and make surethe seat is nice and firm to support the rider
I dropped a few bits off to Mikey on Thursday afternoon and took the cam cover off - so I could get my first glimpse of the motor internals....
..... as luck would have it, the top end looks good, the cams are mint and the clearances are spot on
As you can also see, the cam caps have the standard bolts fitted - so hopefully no surprises there!
I think I'll be doing the minimal mechanical work and just give it a thorough service, a bit of a clean up and run it

Holy Bat Poop !!
I never knew any other mags had done a road test of "that" bike !!!
The whole reason I have my Harris is because it was featured in April 1980 Bike Mag ! bought My Z1-R just for the engine - I had a plan in them days!!!!
any chance of a better posting of the scans ??
