what colour black should the switch gear be
matt gloss or satin.
any recommendations on which spray to use.

Have you checked out Steve Thomas' article on switchgear refurb in one of the old Newzletters (in Download section)? It's old, but I guess still applies.

i did mine with Matt paint then lacquer on that, looked great.
