I have finaly got hold of one of the very last NOS parts I have been looking for, the top brake hose with wire surround, this has been a hard part to track down, but track one down I did, it even has a 1975 date tag.
I had troubled myself over this part, and wondered about fitting a 36 year old rubber part to my bike? but I need not have worried, the pipe has been sat on a shelf, and is still supple, and has no signs of age or perishing. So I see no reason not to fit it, I wonder how you guys feel on this?

Yes, I know you can buy new top hoses, but they don't have the wire surround on the ones I have seen.

It even comes with the boot fitted....

It's Done!

As of today it is done, finished, complete, ready to ride.

Master cylinder was removed today, stripped and cleaned, new overhaul set fitted. Then all the new brake pipes were fitted, new front lever adjuster fitted too. So that is it, all done.

No

As the local fuel is so bad now, I am leaving it dry over the winter, although I may go out and buy some leaded fuel if we get a nice dry spell.

getting hold of leaded fuel is not always easy but i believed they ran ok on unleaded but perhaps a little better with leaded. Do you notice a great deal of difference?

It is not for that reason, just too much bioethanol in the fuel to leave it all winter, Bio fuel draws in water and gums up all the jets etc, so after having the carbs built I will give it a miss until next spring when I start using the bike more.
Until then I will keep some leaded fuel here so I can run it up if I want to.

I don't see the logic in not trusting the old rubber in a tyre yet trusting the old rubber of a brake line, neither for me if I was going to use it.

Bike looks real good though Kev, well done.

Superb..
The rear wheel spindle needs to go through from the other side and I can't see any 'R' clips retaining the torque arm nut or rear wheel spindle nut.. :D :D
