Yep, agree with Pigford, those pistons are low comp turbo pistons.
If I were you I would take a look at your compression ratio.
Ideally, you need a CR between 9:1 and 10.5:1.

ive done some studying on the cr rating,and i think with my calculating it shud be about 10.5.1 maybe a bit more.so it might be ok.if not it shunt be a big problem to strip it down and try again with some other pistons.we can do nowt but try eh lads. :wink:

HB. Best way to calculate your CR:-

Set 1&4 at TDC. Remove plug, fill cylinder with light oil until halfway up the spark plug threads and take note of how many cc's of liquid it took to fill.
If your are then certain of your bore size you can calculate as such:-
In your case.... cylinder capacity (299.25cc) + amount of liquid in cyl (est 32cc) so 299.25 + 32 = 331.25cc.
Then divide this by the amount of liquid, so 331.25 divided by 32 = 10.35. This is your CR i.e. 10.35:1

yep,im after the xt500,got fed up with this one,need sumat for the winter times. :lol:

hoping to trade satday,i love the xt,s never had one ont road,so this will be the one for me.ive got an a4 to be on with if i get fed up again.none concours,of course. :evil:

got some cams today to give the next engine i build a bit more get up and go.
