I have a z1000A2 that runs like a pig. On stripping the carbs I find that they are full of shite. Put them all back together and it runs badly. Can anyone write an idiots guide to carb setup please as my two manuals are pretty vague.
Thanks

Carburation
A ken fit like!
Clean the shit out of the carbs before you put them back together
On a more serious note - adjust cam chain, check valve clearance, check ignition and then start on the carbs. Clean thoroughly not only the fuel jets but the air jets, emulsion tubes and the little holes that supply fuel on tickover as well.
Set fuel hieghts first, set slides by sight - I usually just have a gap visible and then screw the tickover adjuster up. 1 1/4 turns out will be a good starting point for the air / or fuel adjuster screw.

What type of carb? fuel adjuster screw (underneath at the front) or air adjuster screw (top side rear) ?

If screw underneath at front, this controls extra fuel addition at low revs, so wind out about 1/2 turn from fully in, out further richens it.
Screw top side, this is an air screw and works by letting more air (not fuel) into idle system, between 1 1/4 & 1 1/2 turns out. Further out weakens mixture
Sorry for stealing ur glory Rich
